Should everyone have a podcast? No.
If you are going to start one then you NEED to have a great content plan that delivers on your STRATEGY.
This doesn't need to be difficult but it does need to be clear before you even think about turning on a microphone.

There are tons of people out there telling you HOW to record a podcast but not telling you how to strategically plan a series for maximum impact.
I find this SO frustrating as you will literally be wasting your time.

My advice if you are looking to start a podcast is to create an impactful series based podcast of 10-12 episodes and continually promote it for 6 months rather than continue making new episodes.
This is what I teach in The Podcast Expert's Academy where the first thing you do is develop your idea then your six month content plan.
Why waste all the effort of making episodes for no one to find and listen to them?

🎙 It's all about the idea and format. 🎙
Something genuinely insane happened this week. A podcast that I helped develop and name got picked by The Guardian as a top podcast of the week. 🥺
Because the work I do is behind the scenes, something I haven't shared much about is how I help huge organisations and brands with podcast development.
I will go in-house as a consultant and speak to existing marketing teams about how to develop a podcast idea that will be instantly more marketable.
For me, there is no point having a podcast if you aren't going to be able to get people to listen to it.
Earlier this year I was asked to run a development session with someone who had a media profile but was new to the UK.
They were very established but also very niche and wanted to break the mainstream through podcasting.
Not an easy challenge but we came up with an idea and they went and recorded the series.
Then on Thursday the podcast was picked up by The Guardian as a top new podcast. 😳
Seeing it picked by some of the UK's most influential podcast journalists, up against all manor of celebrity and BBC podcasts, was just mind blowing.
One thing that's so important when starting your podcast is thinking about WHY you want to start it WHERE you want it to take you and WHO you want to make it for.
